IT MIGHT BE YOU (Stephen Bishop)

After a month or so, I’m ready to update my blog again with a romantic mode (^_^)

………………………..Here is a lyrics of one of my favourite songs………………………………

It might be you…..Maybe it’s you I’ve been waiting for all of my life.

Time, I’ve been passing time watching trains go by
All of my life
Lying on the sand watching seabirds fly
Wishing there could be someone
Waiting home for me

Something’s telling me it might be you
It’s telling me it might be you
All of my life

Looking back as lovers go walking past
All of my life
Wondering how they met and what makes it last
If I found the place would I recognize the face

Something’s telling me it might be you
It’s telling me it might be you
So many quiet walks to take
So many dreams to wake and there’s so much love to make

I think were gonna need some time
Maybe all we need is time
And it’s telling me it might be you
All of my life

I’ve been saving love songs and lullabies
And there’s so much more
No one’s ever heard before
Something’s telling me it might be you
Yeah, it’s telling me it must be you and
I’m feeling it’ll just be you
All of my life
It’s you, it’s you I’ve been waiting for all of my life
Maybe it’s you Maybe it’s you I’ve been waiting for all of my life.

The forgotten appendages

writer : Chris Watts www.stretchasia.com

The foot is the least understood and the least worked on appendage in the whole human frame. Even here in Asia where are reflexology clinics on every corner, joints in the foot are rarely mobilised and tissues are scarecely stretched or strengthened. Remember what the feet have to do! For a start, they carry the whole your body’s weight.

Tips to keep the foot in shape:

1. Always lengthen tissues before you strengthen.

2. Stretch and strengthen evertors, invertors, supinators and invertors of the foot. Stretch out the calf’s Soleus and Achilles tenson to prevent heel pain and plantar fasciitis

3. Soak feet into a tub of warm water with Epsom salts and your favourite oil. I like to use dead sea salt scrubs for the fooot and massage for at least two minutes until the skin is bright red. Very energising.

4. Move your toes up and down actively with manual assistance. Most people totally neglect the mobility of these small but vital bones and joints.

5. Wear shoes with good cushioning and arch supports.

Manage your time

I read one of my old favourite magazines, Asia Spa,  today. I found a short nice tips on how to manage your time which was written by Lucy Lord.

1. Prioritise

Lucy suggests that first, you need to prioritise things by writing down the 10 things you consider the most important (family, work, friends, keeping fit, etc) and rank them from 1-10. Second. She also mentioned the book of Mark Forester, UK-based author of Do it tomorrow, says ” Think of your commitments in terms of menu of choices. If you go to a restaurant you may have a menu with forty fantastic choices, but you don’t try to eat a lot. In the same way with life, pick a few choices out of thousands available and enjoy them. You can always go back to the restaurant to eat some of the other dishes another day!”

2. Stay focused

Live in a present is what Lucy suggests “Concentrate on the matter in hand and try not to daydream by keeping your mind on the present moment, you are able to achieve much more” says Mark Forester. “If you find your thoughts drifting into the past (regrets/what ifs), realise this achieves nothing. Similarly, worrying about the future is futile as it won’t change anything. The only way to improve the future is to make the best of the today.” Lucy mention to Carole Warren, personal coach and yoga teacher at Kamalaya in Koh Samui that Carole gave the advice : “take a moment, STOP. Slow down. Breathe. Bring your awareness to your breath and repeat three times to your self silently: “I know that I am breathing in, I know that I am breathing out”. Then with ease, move back into action and finish one task at a time.”

3. Get rid of clutter

Warren advices are mentions again in Lucy writing for helping you manage your time ,says, ” think simplicity and spaciousness.” “dividing your possessions into three categories : wonderful, really useful, real rubbish – anything that has not been used for a year and has no sentimental value; and question mark. Put the contents in storage in clearly labeled boxes and go through them again in six months. You will be amazed at what can now be thrown out effortlessly.” Keeping a clear desk is also vital for effective time management, according to the experts. Ingo Schweder, Director of Spa for Mandarin Oriental Hotel, says, ‘don’t let thing sit and collect dust on your desk. Review them/sort them/ pass them on/. But most importantly, MOVE on each subject-which is nothing less than you want from your organisation: to move, grow and prosper.”

4. Write lists

Warren suggests keeping one central “day book” so you don’t waste your time cross-referencing. One the left mark the day you receive the task and on the right when it’s due. “Watch  SHOULD DO rather than HAVE TO, she advices. Divide your activities into categories and tackle the urgent tasks first. As Forrest points out, ‘most of us do fun thing first and then time ran out’, so whatever you avoiding ends up looming even more menacingly than before. Dauntingly large tasks should be broken down into smaller, achievable chunks.

5. Constant communication is not necessary

Lucy recommends us to set times for phone calls and email ,says, ” I am constantly flicking back and forth to my in box in the hope that something amusing might have come along t distract me. One solution, proposed by Microsoft is the ’4 Ds for decision making- Delete, Do, Delegate, or Defer. How many times have you opened, reviewed and closed the same massage over and over? Some of those messages are getting lots of attention but very little action.” So act immediately. At least 50%  of them can be deleted.

6. Just say NO

Just say no, says Lucy. ” Forrest suggests that learn to say no to people. He says ” I always tell my clients about the monkeys we carry on our shoulders,” We come nice and balanced with one per shoulder, but if we are the sort of person who never say no, each time we take on someone else’s problem/agree to babysit/ walk the dog, all we are doing is taking a monkey off someone else’s shoulder and putting it on ours.” “say give me some more time to consider or let me think about it and I will call you back in one hour. This gives you time to reflect and connect with your inner space. Then make sure you honour your commitment and accept or politely decline the request from a place of clarity”.

Lucy also recommenced us good relevant reading material:

Forgiveness

Everybody used to make a mistake. It might have many times in life which you feel dislike, annoy or disappointed with someone’s mistake or  misunderstanding. However, the greatest thing in our human being life is accepting the apology and forgiveness.

Will you forgive someone even though he/she hurt you or made you feel bad?

Forgiveness is a sign of great heart which makes the world more beautiful and being a better place to live.

Mohandas K. Gandhi

The weak can never forgive. Forgiveness is the attribute of the strong.

Mohandas K. Gandhi:

Forgiveness is choosing to love. It is the first skill of self-giving love.

Reinhold Niebuhr:

Nothing worth doing is completed in our lifetime,
Therefore, we are saved by hope.
Nothing true or beautiful or good makes complete sense in any immediate context of history;
Therefore, we are saved by faith.
Nothing we do, however virtuous, can be accomplished alone.
Therefore, we are saved by love.
No virtuous act is quite a virtuous from the standpoint of our friend or foe as from our own;
Therefore, we are saved by the final form of love which is forgiveness.

Easter

Easter in Czech Republic

Easter in Czech Republic is known by the traditional name of Velikonoce. Easter celebration in Czech Republic is a mélange of colorful traditions and folk customs dating back to pre-Christian times. But most of these traditions are largely observed in villages and small towns and they have lost the inherent symbolism and romance and are now performed mainly for fun.

The traditional name for Easter Monday is Whipping Monday, because on this day the village boys symbolically whip girls on the legs. Young, live pussywillow twigs are thought to bring health and youth to anyone who is thrashed with them. The braided whip made from pussywillow twigs is called the Easter pomlázka. While whipping the girl, the boy would recite an Easter carol, usually asking for an egg or two. The girl would reward the boy with a painted egg or candy and tie a ribbon around his pomlázka.

The hand-painted or decorated egg (kraslice) is the most recognizable symbol of Czech Easter. Girls decorate Easter eggs to give them to boys on Easter Monday. Easter Sunday (Nedele velikonocní) is a day of preparations for Easter Monday. While the girls are occupied with painting, coloring and decorating eggs, boys prepare their pomlázkas. A nationwide Easter egg contest is held in Prague and other Czech cities around Easter time.

Among traditional Easter cuisine, Czechs eat a type of coffee bread called Babovka. Mazanec is another special Easter food, which is a yeast-raised cake filled with almonds, raisins and citron. A cross is cut into the top of the cake jus before it goes into the oven.

Prague Easter markets

The Prague Easter markets at the Old Town Square and Wenceslas Square display fine hand crafted goods,

all manner of food and drink, and show off some of the wonderful old customs that make up a traditional Czech Easter.

Prague Easter markets are at the Old Town Square and Wenceslas Square and extend to over 100 stalls. They offer a wide selection of hand crafted goods, including wooden toys, crystal glasses, candles, jewellery, metal-ware, intricate embroidery, puppets and dolls in regional costume dresses. The most common feature is the brightly coloured, hand-painted Easter eggs

Czech ladies, beautifully dressed in traditional costume, will personalise the Easter eggs, painting on your name or a special message.Easter Markets are not just about shopping though. The markets will be devoted to the Czech Easter traditions and habits. People can taste traditional Czech food, such as a cake called Easter Beranek or Easter stuffing

The birch tree, which is connected with Easter, will be put in the middle of both Old Town Square and Wenceslas Square.

Easter Story
Easter is the time for holidays, festivals and a time for giving chocolate Easter eggs.
But Easter means uch more…..Easter is the oldest and the most important Christian Festival,
it is the celebration of the death and coming to life again of Jesus Christ. For Christians,
the dawn of Easter Sunday with its message of new life is the high point of the Christian year.
Why they have eggs at Easter??
The first eggs given at Easter were bird eggs. These eggs were painted in bright colours
to give them futher meaning as a gift. For Christians, Easter eggs symbolise new life.
They belive that, through his resurrection, Jesus defeated death and sin and offers
people the promise of eternal life if they follow his teachings. Eggs have been a symbol
of continuing life and resurrection since pre-Christian Spring celebrations.
What foods are traditionally eaten at Easter time?
Hot Cross Buns are traditional served on Good Friday.
Boiled eggs are traditionally served at breakfast, then easter cards
and gifts may be exchanged.

Serendipity

Serendipity

serendipity

Do you believe in destiny, fete, fortunate chance, or luck? That’s all about “Serendipity”. In a life time, I have faced and known how serendipity work several times. It’s interesting and I believe that sometimes someone has already decided the “fortunate way” for us. Let’s see my stories. I knew “serendipity” for the first time when I was about 17 years old. I applied for the universities after I graduated from high school. The system in my country required me to choose maximum four universities. I chose my favorite university at the 2nd ranking by mistake!!!!! Fortunately, I got lower scores than I thought on the final test so I got what I wanted. I studied at my favorite university finally. When I graduated from the university, I applied for several jobs. I almost got a job all the time. I felt so tired with job hunting.  During that time, I sent my CV to a wrong company by mistake (again). The HR manager received my CV and she called me. Finally, I got a job there. I met many cool and very lovely colleagues. They became my beloved friends, sisters, brothers later on. They played an import role in my life and  gave me a lot of helps when I needed it. My life changed again when I wanted to pursued my master degree aboard. I wanted to go to the USA at the beginning, however, with my serendipity, I changed my plan and went to the UK…..I met my boyfriend there, we were in the same class.  The serendipity works quite often in my life when it requires a big change. I always listen to my heart and go wherever my serendipity asks me to go. I always know that it chooses the best thing for me and it knows me very well. What’s about you and your serendipity? You will not realise how the serendipity work if you don’t look back and listen to your  own serendipity.  Take some relax times and think about it. You will realise that it works amazingly and it always guides us to a better thing in life.

About serendipity….

Serendipity means

1. an aptitude for making desirable discoveries by accident.

2. good fortune; luck: the serendipity of getting the first job she applied for.

www.dictionary.com

The wikipedia mentions about Serendipity that

Serendipity is the effect by which one accidentally discovers something fortunate, especially while looking for something else entirely. The word has been voted as one of the ten English words that were hardest to translate in June 2004 by a British translation company.

Serendipity plays an important role in many areas of science and technology

Chemistry

  • A sweetener, cyclamate, was discovered by US chemist Michael Sveda, when he smoked a cigarette accidentally contaminated with a compound he had recently synthesized.
  • Rayon, the first synthetic silk, was discovered by French chemist Hilaire de Chardonnet, an assistant to Louis Pasteur. He spilled a bottle of collodion and found later that he could draw thin strands from the evaporated viscous liquid

Pharmacology

  • Penicillin by Alexander Fleming. He failed to disinfect cultures of bacteria when leaving for his vacations, only to find them contaminated with Penicillium molds, which killed the bacteria. However, he had previously done extensive research into antibacterial substances.

Medicine and Biology

Physics and Astronomy

  • Discovery of the planet Uranus by William Herschel. Herschel was looking for comets, and initially identified Uranus as a comet until he noticed the circularity of its orbit and its distance and suggested that it was a planet, the first one discovered since antiquity.
  • Pluto‘s moon Charon was discovered by US astronomer James Christy in 1978. He was going to discard what he thought was a defective photographic plate of Pluto, when his Star Scan machine broke down. While it was being repaired he had time to study the plate again and discovered others in the archives with the same “defect” (a bulge in the planet’s image which was actually a large moon).

Inventions

Serendipitous ideas

Some ideas and concepts that came to scientists through accidents or even dreams are also considered a kind of serendipity. Some examples (coincidentally all are regarded with suspicion by science historians):

Examples in exploration

Stories of accidental discovery in exploration abound, of course, because the aim of exploration is to find new things and places. The principle of serendipity applies here, however, when the explorer had one aim in mind and found another unexpectedly. In addition, discoveries have been made by people simply attempting to reach a known destination but who departed from the customary or intended route for a variety of reasons. Some classical cases were discoveries of the Americas by explorers with other aims.

Quotations on serendipity

  • “In the field of observation, chance favours only the prepared mind.” Louis Pasteur
  • “I find that a great part of the information I have was acquired by looking up something and finding something else on the way.” (Franklin P. Adams, 1881-1960)
  • “Serendipity. Look for something, find something else, and realize that what you’ve found is more suited to your needs than what you thought you were looking for.” Lawrence Block
  • “The most exciting phrase to hear in science, the one that heralds new discoveries, is not ‘Eureka!’, but ‘That’s funny…’” Isaac Asimov
  • “In reality, serendipity accounts for one percent of the blessings we receive in life, work and love. The other 99 percent is due to our efforts.” Peter McWilliams
  • “Serendipity is looking in a haystack for a needle and discovering a farmer’s daughter.” Julius Comroe Jr. (1976)
  • “Serendipity is putting a quarter in the gumball machine and having three pieces come rattling out instead of one—all red.” Peter H. Reynolds
  • “— you don’t reach Serendib by plotting a course for it. You have to set out in good faith for elsewhere and lose your bearings… serendipitously.” John Barth, The Last Voyage of Somebody the Sailor
  • “Serendipity is the art of making an unsought finding.” Pek van Andel (1994)
  • “Serendipity is the faculty of finding things we did not know we were looking for.” Glauco Ortolano (2008)
  • “Serendipity is when you find things you weren’t looking for because finding what you are looking for is so damned difficult.” Erin McKean 2007

The world with serendipity is amazing. I look forward to seeing the next serendipity happens to the world and to my life.

Family

I visited a new born baby today. I could feel true love which transferred from mother to a small baby. It was a great feeling. Once a mom gave first milk to a baby, the miracle of love started to form inside her baby……A mother gave a life and love to the world.

Do you remember how you grow up? Do you remember the first memory with your mom and dad? Do you remember the time you spend with your beloved brother and sister? Those people in your family are the best consultant, business planner, supporter, creator, writter,  football player, musician, photographer etc….in your life. Tell them that you love them before it’s too late. I love you…my family….

Tie the knot

200023151-001I went to my best friend’s wedding today. The groom and the bridge were my best friend, moreover, I was a cupid who introduced them to know eachother and finally they got marry. I was so happy with their happy marriage life.Since then, I started to think why people want to get marry. First of all, love is the first reason for marriage. When you love someone, marriage is a sign to proove your love. Security is also one of the reason why a couple want to get marry. It might be better to walk pass the difficulty in life, share the feeling and support each other to the marriage life. Two people along the way is better than one. At least, you don’t feel lonely and also have someone to help you and stand nearby you until you reach your goal. On the other hand, some couple might marry because of society, family, business or another benefit in life. In any reasons, Marriage is a big dicision in a life time. Time will tell whether your partner is the right one for you. For my friend’s wedding, I understand and realise that this is what a real marriage meant to be and….this is a story of a real soulmate – a person who fullfill your heart and soul and will be a missing part of your life.
