The foot is the least understood and the least worked on appendage in the whole human frame. Even here in Asia where are reflexology clinics on every corner, joints in the foot are rarely mobilised and tissues are scarecely stretched or strengthened. Remember what the feet have to do! For a start, they carry the whole your body’s weight.

Tips to keep the foot in shape:

1. Always lengthen tissues before you strengthen.

2. Stretch and strengthen evertors, invertors, supinators and invertors of the foot. Stretch out the calf’s Soleus and Achilles tenson to prevent heel pain and plantar fasciitis

3. Soak feet into a tub of warm water with Epsom salts and your favourite oil. I like to use dead sea salt scrubs for the fooot and massage for at least two minutes until the skin is bright red. Very energising.

4. Move your toes up and down actively with manual assistance. Most people totally neglect the mobility of these small but vital bones and joints.

5. Wear shoes with good cushioning and arch supports.

1. Prioritise

Lucy suggests that first, you need to prioritise things by writing down the 10 things you consider the most important (family, work, friends, keeping fit, etc) and rank them from 1-10. Second. She also mentioned the book of Mark Forester, UK-based author of Do it tomorrow, says ” Think of your commitments in terms of menu of choices. If you go to a restaurant you may have a menu with forty fantastic choices, but you don’t try to eat a lot. In the same way with life, pick a few choices out of thousands available and enjoy them. You can always go back to the restaurant to eat some of the other dishes another day!”

2. Stay focused

Live in a present is what Lucy suggests “Concentrate on the matter in hand and try not to daydream by keeping your mind on the present moment, you are able to achieve much more” says Mark Forester. “If you find your thoughts drifting into the past (regrets/what ifs), realise this achieves nothing. Similarly, worrying about the future is futile as it won’t change anything. The only way to improve the future is to make the best of the today.” Lucy mention to Carole Warren, personal coach and yoga teacher at Kamalaya in Koh Samui that Carole gave the advice : “take a moment, STOP. Slow down. Breathe. Bring your awareness to your breath and repeat three times to your self silently: “I know that I am breathing in, I know that I am breathing out”. Then with ease, move back into action and finish one task at a time.”

3. Get rid of clutter

Warren advices are mentions again in Lucy writing for helping you manage your time ,says, ” think simplicity and spaciousness.” “dividing your possessions into three categories : wonderful, really useful, real rubbish – anything that has not been used for a year and has no sentimental value; and question mark. Put the contents in storage in clearly labeled boxes and go through them again in six months. You will be amazed at what can now be thrown out effortlessly.” Keeping a clear desk is also vital for effective time management, according to the experts. Ingo Schweder, Director of Spa for Mandarin Oriental Hotel, says, ‘don’t let thing sit and collect dust on your desk. Review them/sort them/ pass them on/. But most importantly, MOVE on each subject-which is nothing less than you want from your organisation: to move, grow and prosper.”

4. Write lists

Warren suggests keeping one central “day book” so you don’t waste your time cross-referencing. One the left mark the day you receive the task and on the right when it’s due. “Watch  SHOULD DO rather than HAVE TO, she advices. Divide your activities into categories and tackle the urgent tasks first. As Forrest points out, ‘most of us do fun thing first and then time ran out’, so whatever you avoiding ends up looming even more menacingly than before. Dauntingly large tasks should be broken down into smaller, achievable chunks.

5. Constant communication is not necessary

Lucy recommends us to set times for phone calls and email ,says, ” I am constantly flicking back and forth to my in box in the hope that something amusing might have come along t distract me. One solution, proposed by Microsoft is the ’4 Ds for decision making- Delete, Do, Delegate, or Defer. How many times have you opened, reviewed and closed the same massage over and over? Some of those messages are getting lots of attention but very little action.” So act immediately. At least 50%  of them can be deleted.

6. Just say NO

Just say no, says Lucy. ” Forrest suggests that learn to say no to people. He says ” I always tell my clients about the monkeys we carry on our shoulders,” We come nice and balanced with one per shoulder, but if we are the sort of person who never say no, each time we take on someone else’s problem/agree to babysit/ walk the dog, all we are doing is taking a monkey off someone else’s shoulder and putting it on ours.” “say give me some more time to consider or let me think about it and I will call you back in one hour. This gives you time to reflect and connect with your inner space. Then make sure you honour your commitment and accept or politely decline the request from a place of clarity”.

Prague Easter markets

The Prague Easter markets at the Old Town Square and Wenceslas Square display fine hand crafted goods,

all manner of food and drink, and show off some of the wonderful old customs that make up a traditional Czech Easter.

Prague Easter markets are at the Old Town Square and Wenceslas Square and extend to over 100 stalls. Do you believe in destiny, fete, fortunate chance, or luck? That’s all about “Serendipity”. In a life time, I have faced and known how serendipity work several times. It’s interesting and I believe that sometimes someone has already decided the “fortunate way” for us. Let’s see my stories. I knew “serendipity” for the first time when I was about 17 years old. I applied for the universities after I graduated from high school. The system in my country required me to choose maximum four universities. I chose my favorite university at the 2nd ranking by mistake!!!!! Fortunately, I got lower scores than I thought on the final test so I got what I wanted. I studied at my favorite university finally. When I graduated from the university, I applied for several jobs. I almost got a job all the time. I felt so tired with job hunting.  During that time, I sent my CV to a wrong company by mistake (again). The HR manager received my CV and she called me. Finally, I got a job there. I met many cool and very lovely colleagues. They became my beloved friends, sisters, brothers later on. They played an import role in my life and  gave me a lot of helps when I needed it. My life changed again when I wanted to pursued my master degree aboard. I wanted to go to the USA at the beginning, however, with my serendipity, I changed my plan and went to the UK…..I met my boyfriend there, we were in the same class.  The serendipity works quite often in my life when it requires a big change. I always listen to my heart and go wherever my serendipity asks me to go. I always know that it chooses the best thing for me and it knows me very well. What’s about you and your serendipity? You will not realise how the serendipity work if you don’t look back and listen to your  own serendipity.  Take some relax times and think about it. You will realise that it works amazingly and it always guides us to a better thing in life.

Physics and Astronomy

• Discovery of the planet Uranus by William Herschel. Herschel was looking for comets, and initially identified Uranus as a comet until he noticed the circularity of its orbit and its distance and suggested that it was a planet, the first one discovered since antiquity.

• X rays, by Wilhelm Roentgen. Interested in investigating cathodic ray tubes, he noted that some fluorescent papers in his lab were illuminated at a distance although his apparatus had an opaque cover

• Pluto‘s moon Charon was discovered by US astronomer James Christy in 1978. He was going to discard what he thought was a defective photographic plate of Pluto, when his Star Scan machine broke down. Inventions

• Art Fry happened to attend a 3M college’s seminar on a new “low-tack” adhesive and, wanting to anchor his bookmarks in his hymnal at church, went on to invent Post-It Note
• The microwave oven was invented by Percy Spencer while testing a magnetron for radar sets at Raytheon, he noticed that a peanut candy bar in his pocket had melted when exposed to radar waves.
• Discovery of the principle behind inkjet printers by a Canon engineer. After putting his hot soldering iron by accident on his pen, ink was ejected from the pen’s point a few moments later.
• Corn flakes and wheat flakes (Wheaties) were accidentally discovered by the Kelloggs brothers in 1898, when they left cooked wheat untended for a day and tried to roll the mass, obtaining a flaky material instead of a sheet.
• Chocolate chip cookies were invented by Ruth Wakefield when she attempted to make chocolate drop cookies. She did not have the required chocolate so she broke up a candy bar and placed the chunks into the cookie mix. These chunks later morphed into what is now known as chocolate chips.

Serendipitous ideas

Some ideas and concepts that came to scientists through accidents or even dreams are also considered a kind of serendipity. Some examples (coincidentally all are regarded with suspicion by science historians):

• Isaac Newton‘s famed apple falling from a tree, led to his musings about the nature of gravitation.
• The German chemist Friedrich August Kekulé von Stradonitz dreamed about Ourobouros, a snake running around and forming a circle, leading to his solution of the closed chemical structure of cyclic compounds, such as benzene.
• Archimedes‘ prototypical cry of Eureka when he realised that his body displacing water in the bathtub allowed him to measure the volume of any irregular body, such as a gold crown.

Examples in exploration

Stories of accidental discovery in exploration abound, of course, because the aim of exploration is to find new things and places. The principle of serendipity applies here, however, when the explorer had one aim in mind and found another unexpectedly. In addition, discoveries have been made by people simply attempting to reach a known destination but who departed from the customary or intended route for a variety of reasons. Some classical cases were discoveries of the Americas by explorers with other aims.

• The first European to see the coast of North America was reputedly Bjarni Herjólfsson, who was blown off course by a storm in 985 or 986 while trying to reach Greenland.
• Christopher Columbus was looking for a new way to India in 1492 and wound up landing in The Americas.
• Although the first European to see and step on South America was Christopher Columbus in Northeast Venezuela in 1498. Brazil was also discovered by accident, first by Spaniard Vicente Pinzon in 1499, who was only trying to explore the West Indies previously discovered by him and Columbus, and stumbled upon the Northeast of Brazil, in the region now known as Cabo de Santo Agostinho, in the state of Pernambuco.
